Being on the inside, I saw how the large project dollar amounts attracted the corporations with largest cost and overhead. I early on saw how the project wasn’t being approached with good engineering but in a manner that would lead to a more expensive network. The project ran over budget as predicted and the school children were robbed of 400Gbps of data speed per fiber as a large inside vendor partner with the project managing firm gained an exclusivity favor.

If we are going to fix our infrastructure and spend money on it, the work has to be done local and most of it should go to struggling local small businesses and not large national contracting firms who have big logos, greedy wallets and an interest in vacuuming up as much federal project dollars as possible.
